In short Los Cabos municipality is broken up in three major areas, each with something different to offer. All areas are traversed by the very long Carretera Transpeninsular also known in some parts as Mauricio Castro and Boulevard Lázaro Cárdenas. From the highway that crosses all of Los Cabos' area nothing is more than 5 minutes away. Los Cabos International Airport is located in the area known as San José del Cabo. It is all part of the same municipality and is home to about 25 thousand locals with a large portion of those being immigrants particularly from the Us and Canada. Los cabos is the second most popular destination just behind Cancun on the oposite side of the country. Los cabos is known the world over for it's sportfishing, which first got it noticed, golfing and active nightlife, as it has grown there are more and more things to do in this wonderful destination as you can see in our activities page.
There is actually a town and a town plaza in the administrative capital which is about a 20 minute drive from the aiport and which houses the first major hotels in the area. Shopping and gourmet restaraunts abound as well as some of the most quaint sceneries in the destiantion. In the area known as 'The Malecón' You'll find Hotels like Barceló and Holiday Inn, and on the new Marina, about 10 minutes from downtown more luxurious accomodations like those of the JW Marriot and Secrets Puerto Los Cabos. San José is know for its lazy lifestyle, where everything's serene and tranquil and as such artwalks in the colonial center of town are prefered over the mos boisterous and party-loving ways of the sister town of Cabo San Lucas. San José hosts world class golfing as does the neighbouring corridor. With the Club Campestre, Querencia, Palmilla and the Puerto Los Cabos Golf Courses.
the corridor of Los Cabos streches for about 25 miles and in it you'll find a large portion of the Hotels in the region. From world renown luxury retreats like Palmilla, Las Ventanas and Esperanza, you can also find family friendly hotels like Fiesta Americana, Hilton and Westin, somo of the most iconic swimable beaches are located in here with Santa María Bay and Chileno Bay with their coral reefs teaming with wildlife and that are a must for every traveler that wants to get their feet wet. Also as always in Cabo Golf Courses that would make any Scotsman proud, Cabo del Sol and PGA host Cabo Real are located within, but some other's as well secluded and private El Dorado and the more local friendly Robert Trent's course at The country Club. Dead center in the strech in between Cabo San Lucas and San José you can find the Canyons that as of late have become the rage with their exhilarating ziplines, camel tours and ATVS.
